Many of us engage with some form of physical activity to maintain the health of the body. While these help we can practice it in a deeper way.

Many of us will be confined to our homes in ways that we might not have intended. Given that situation, I invite you to learn a great practice that you can take into your everyday life.

This is the practice of inner body awareness.

I am in my eighth decade and in great health physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I hope my sharing this does not appear arrogant.

The art of inner body awareness is a technique that we might all adopt to support our own health and the collective health of the community.

Boosting Your Immunity from Your Mind

The mind and body are two in one. The body impacts the mind and the mind the body.

A major issue we have regarding boosting our immune system is that we block it more than we allow it to do its work.

That blocking comes from the overthinking never still personal mind.

Most everyone on this planet lives the mantra that tells them they are the thoughts they think. You identify mostly with the intellect.

Since the time of the Enlightenment when the French philosopher Rene Descartes declared.

I think therefore I am. – Rene Descartes.

We have glorified thought.

Rene Descartes has it back to front.  He would have been more accurate if he declared.

I am and therefore think.

Better still he would have been a mystic rather than a philosopher if he declared.

I am, and therefore I think only when I need to think and better to be thought through.

They teach us in the West to value the intellect above all else. The wisdom available beyond the personal mind gets shut down. We become like an ocean frog sitting by a dry well.

We try to think our way out of crisis when what we need is access that which is beyond the limited idea of the personal.

But,

They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet

They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.

They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
through the neighbourhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.

Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary

All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that

Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.

But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
Sing

You will enhance your immune system if you learn the basic technique of getting out of the way.  This may not be very attractive to you who are used to living a life of control.

This technique of getting out of our own way and reclaiming our Sovereignty has unique names.  These names include:-

  • Witness consciousness.
  • Getting in the Gap.

I have written regarding witness consciousness and why it is important at What is Witness Consciousness and Why it is Important.

This technique is a premier technique for learning how to deal with unpleasant emotions. It gives you space. You become a witness rather than a reactionary.

For a longer exploration of this technique I have added a video by Dr Wayne Dyer that is a meditation about “Getting in the Gap.” If this is one thing you learn then you will have developed a life skill that will benefit you now and in the future.

Here is a guided meditation that will give you some idea about what it means to Get in the Gap. You claim the power from your overthinking reactive personal mind that is the voice in your head.

This is the primary cause of your anxiety, which then floods your body with a cocktail of chemicals which compromise your immune system. You unify a house divided against itself.

It is where you tune into your Sovereign Self rather than the sense of separation you think you are. You find peace of mind beyond the ravings of the Madman in the Cave of Your Skull (World Party – The Waterboys)

Boosting Immunity Through the Heart.

This is a longer-term approach to learning to strengthen the immune system.  It comes  because of what Father Richard Rohr refers to as either.

  • Great Suffering or
  • Great Love.

Usually there is a combination of both.

The above practices of inner body awareness and witness consciousness you lessen your attachment to the drama that is your personal life.

You detach from the antics that is the voice inside your head. This is the servant who has taken over your true Sovereignty. This is the Madman in the Cave of Your Skull.

This is the inner voice you claim is you. It is the myriad of voices given to you by other people. In reality, most of who you are is the thoughts of others.

One day and it is a challenging day when you claim your own voice.

The Journey

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice—
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
“Mend my life!”
each voice cried.

But you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.

It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.

But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do—
determined to save
the only life you could save.

When you enter your inner dimension you open to your heart and its connection to soul and Spirit.

This gives you a whole another way of being in the world. You create an inner Sanctuary beyond the madness of the mental gymnastics of your over thinking mind.

As you enter the realm of the heart, you trust that the Universe has your back.  You don’t have to figure it all out.  Your life becomes more of a happening.

Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. – Carl Jung.

Your energy system is in flow. It is not being driven from the dictates of the servant but being guided by your Sovereign self.

You begin entry into more subtle energy fields that require your deepening connection to the inner.  This deepening happens through silence and surrender.

You fall in love with what is coming through you. You are connecting to the realm of the soul.

Immunity Through Soul Connection

You are a wave and you are the Ocean – Rumi.

This is the premier immunity. It comes from Source energy itself. While it is forever available, it is not available when you identify with.

  • The Body.
  • The Personal Mind and
  • Your Emotional Body.

The above combination is who most people take themselves to be rather than the Essence (The Ocean) that they are.

In this way, the door is closed to the most powerful immunisation dynamic available. It is where you as the wave have access to the power of the Ocean.

The power of this connection is that you become an outpouring of Love. How that manifests in the world of time and space is not for you to decide.  It will guide you, provided you do not shut down the process through fear.

Your immune system is empowered from Love. You want nothing more than to pour forth the infinite resources that are being poured through you. Ocean pouring forth as Love.

There is so much outpouring, how can there be something to threaten you from without.

The Integral Approach

This integral approach for boosting your immune system naturally is not a short-term approach.

You will not learn to connect to the higher energies of heart and soul without a deep desire to do so. This longing is for a direct experience of the ground of Being or Love that creates you to express through you.

What is likely to draw you into these higher dimensions of immunity is deep suffering or deep love.  Suffering because of deep love is almost guaranteed.

However, many people do not get transformed by such suffering. It is a mystery why some are and some are not.

The integral approach is not likely to begin before the age of thirty years. Not that anyone before the age of thirty cannot use the techniques as shared here.

The psychologist Carl Jung declared that most people who consulted him after the age of forty were those who had no sense of meaning in their life.  They did not connect to the Spirit within them. Only when that happened did they heal.

Whatever age you are now, why not take the integral approach to life? This is what you it intends you embrace. It is your birthright in wholeness.

Begin now to reclaim your Sovereign Self.  Reclaim the power from the personal mind that is part of the collective insanity running amok in the world. Become the one will make a difference.

Learn to BE the difference. You will be different if you commit to being true to yourself.

To learn the art of integrated immunity requires commitment, patience, and discipline. Make this part of your art. It will serve you well no matter what the crisis is. It will allow you to move through the fires of transformation.
