There are more than enough people down through the ages who have asked, have believed and who were willing to receive and their desires where not fulfilled.

There is the promise (Matthew 7:7) that says, “Ask and it shall be given.”

There is clearly something we are missing in understanding what this “asking” involves because for most people what is asked for is not given.

The key reason for such non-fulfilment of the promise of prayer is that you ask from the wrong place.

You like most everyone who has ever engaged with the practice of prayer ask from a core belief. This is the belief that you are separate from the Divine.

It surprises me that we are not given more detailed instruction in this matter by those who claim to understand the power of prayer.

In all the time I was attending Church during my adolescence never once was I instructed in how I should, “Ask” other than that I should “Ask in the name of Jesus.”

This instruction was not understood in the true meaning of that statement by those who suggested this practice.

To “Ask in the name of Jesus,” means that you KNOW HOW TO enter the vibration (name) of Jesus which is the vibration of The Christ.

It means that you “Put on the Mind of Christ.” It doesn’t mean simply saying the words, “In the name of Jesus.”

The word “name” as advised here has nothing to do with personality of Jesus of Nazareth and everything to do with the transpersonal dynamic pointed toward by the words “The Christ.”

If you get this 1^st step about HOW TO ASK wrong then the other two steps (believe and receive) will not align.

When most people practice prayer, they do so from the standpoint of their personality. This is how we are taught to pray from the time we are small children.

We are rarely invited to ask from beyond the viewpoint of our personality.

Hard as it may be to hear but God isn’t interested in you as a person.

The word ‘person’ comes from the word “persona” meaning “mask.” This is the mask that we create to present to the world.  Another name for this mask is “ego.”

When you ask from the level of the personality you are asking from the limitation of time. The personal is an experience bound within the limitation of time and space.

The God experience is Boundless and Timeless. 

To use a term popularised in the book by Ester Hicks entitled Ask and it is Given, – “There is no vibrational match.”

What is Timeless and Boundless within you is your soul.  (Source Of Unconditional Love)

Your soul is the individualised aspect of the Divine within you. What will be given to you is what is in alignment with the intention of your soul.

What will be given is what is in alignment with the Will of the Divine. This is the Will to Love rather than the time bound limited desires of the personality.

The desires of the personality tend to be driven by the forces of the culture, the tribe and the media including the advertising industry.

To travel the 3 steps to Heaven (Ask, believe, receive) you must learn to ask from beyond the personal and practice living in alignment with the vibration and energy of the transpersonal.

This is living the mantra, “Thy will be done.”

This is the 1^st step in the process that will actualise the promise of prayer. This changes the focus at the heart of prayer.

It moves asking from a focus on what “you want” to the deeper reality of that which is intended to be expressed through you from your soul and through all eternity.

Yoga is the Journey of the self to the Self through the self – Patajali.

Let me share with you some quotes from different sources that affirm this 3-step process that allows you to tune into the power of prayer.

Confirmation from Yoga

The journey of Yoga is the journey from the self to the Self through the self – Patanjali.

Here we have the three steps to Heaven shared by the Father of Yoga.  This is the journey of union which is also the Journey of Prayer.

The word “Self” is equivalent to the word God or Source. The word “self” relates to the personal sense of self that you identify with.

This sense of personal self is what you truly believe in more than your belief in God. Your belief in separation is much deeper than your belief in your unity with the Divine.

This is why prayer doesn’t work for most people. This is why the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for most people.

The word “Yoga” means union. This is the direct experience of union with the Divine. It is where you and the Divine are ONE.

The key to “Asking” is your clear intention to live the life of the Self through the surrender of the personal self.

The reason why prayer then works is because you live in alignment with the reality of the Cosmos which is Love and non-separation.

The Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung stated:-

The first half of life is devoted to forming a healthy ego, the second half is going inward and letting go of it. ― Carl Jung

The development of the ego is the development of the separate sense of the personal self.

This is where you live your life identified with “Me, myself, I.”  For the most part it’s all about you.

If you are fortunate, you will have a crisis of personal identity, often in mid-life,  at which time you may be graced an awareness of that which is beyond the personal idea of separation.

This is the call of your soul to union with the Divine. This is what is truly attractive within you. Most everything else is a distraction from your true purpose which is to serve Love’s Purpose.

As the spiritual teacher Thich Nhat Hanh has stated: –

 We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness – Thich Nhat Hanh

What you awaken into is that which is transpersonal and non-separate.

You are plugged in.

It isn’t that you connect to the Divine, but you are graced the revelation that the sense of separation is not REAL even if it feels that way.

When you are so connected then you are in a state of prayer. You for a moment give up your core belief in the idea that you are separate from God (LOVE).

While you are identified with the personality there is no connection because God who is One does not recognize separation.

The 1^st step in the 3-step process of Ask, Believe Receive is the requirement to get out of the way.

This is the act of asking and the preparation for receiving.

The Master Jesus stated it this way.

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. – Matthew 10:39

You find your life (He that findeth his life) when it is directed to the development of the ego and the personality alone.

You find your LIFE when you move beyond the personal sense of the separate self and live for the sake of the revelation designed to be expressed through you.

When you surrender your personal will to Follow Love’s Message and the purpose of Love (my sake) you will enter that dimension which is eternal.

Eternity is not to be considered a long time but an experience where time ends. (Don’t think about this because it is beyond thinking about).

While you remain identified with the time bound personality you are for all purposes unplugged from the Divine.

Your prayer words go into the ether but you at the level of the personality and the Divine remain disconnected.

This is why the Master Jesus speaking from the personality of Jesus of Nazarath affirmed, “By myself I can do nothing.”

Later in this 10 Day Prayer Challenge I will be sharing with you the technique that I use that allows me to “ASK” so that you become available to receiving.

This then takes you and I to the next two steps which are the requirement to believe and receive.
