If you were to Google the phrase, “What are the 7 Chakra’s?” it would give you the following results: –

The 7 chakras are the centres in our bodies in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it’s important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely. www.mindbodygreen.com

Here is another description from the “What are the 7 Chakras’” search

Chakras are the circular vortexes of energy that are placed in seven different points on the spinal column, and all the seven chakras are connected to the various organs and glands within the body. These chakras are responsible for disturbing the life energy, which is also known as Qi or Prana. https://www.onetribeapparel.com

Each of these articles lists each of the 7 chakras’ individually and tells you what their primary function is.

Do any of the above descriptions of the 7 chakras and their meaning inspire you? Do they answer your question as regards “meaning?” In the opinion of this writer, neither description or the entire article would inspire the reader to explore this premier map of learning to live a life of Purpose, Passion, Prosperity, and Presence.

Let me share with you the outline I hope might encourage you to follow the 7 chakra levels and meanings map for finding meaning and purpose in your life.

The 7 Chakra Meaning Map

chakra levels

Defining a single chakra, or list of chakras is like examining a single organ, or organ system of the physical body without having regard to the holistic nature of the body/mind/spirit. Examining the body as a series of parts is the focus of Western medicine which, in fact, is not very scientific.

So let us briefly explore this wholistic map to meaning and purpose by dividing it into three levels. These three chakra levels and their meaning are as follows: –

Does that not give you a greater sense of encouragement and hopefully and greater invitation to engagement? The above three chakra levels are a map of your life as a unique human being living within this time and space dimension.

Finding Your Life Purpose

chakra levels and their meaning

You find your unique life purpose by expressing your Y-E-S. This is Your—Energy—System. Life purpose is the full expression of your energy.

Most people live their lives in what the singer-songwriter Mike Scott of the Waterboys calls The Madman in the Cave of the Skull. This is what the modern mystic Eckhart Tolle, writing in The Power of NOW—A Guide to Enlightenment calls “normal insanity.” It is the normal cultural insanity of glorifying the overthinking personal mind.

You will not find the meaning and purpose of your life through the overthinking personal mind. Thinking has to come from KNOWING and INSIGHT.

We facilitate finding your life purpose through the healing, balance, and alignment of the 7 chakras at different chakra levels. These, (healing, balance, and alignment) are three different aspects of the process and I think many articles on the 7 chakra meanings confuse the three (more to come on this).

This is experiential alignment. Tune into your KNOWING and trust your Y-E-S. This is paradoxically powerfully connected to your ability to say NO and mean it.

Chakra Level 1 – Period of Integration

The 1st chakra level of  Healing, Balancing and Alignment begins with developing the personality and the ego. This is by way of the 1st three chakras of the 7 chakra system.

Let me briefly outline the key aspect of each of these three chakras and their meaning in relation to the essential task of personal development in the 1st Half of Life.

The Root Chakra

root chakra balance

Colour in Space

The meaning of this chakra cente is related to your ability to feel physically, psychologically safe in the world of time and space. This relates to your ability to FEEL grounded in the present moment.

You have a command (or at least to some degree) of the fight/flight/freeze reaction to stress.

The Sacral Chakra

sacral chakra balance

Colour in Space

The 7 chakra meaning of the Sacral Chakra is how you relate to yourself and others. If your foundational experience (root chakra) in early life was traumatic or if you did not have your needs met (which is the case for most everyone) you will enter relationships armoured, mistrustful and needy.

This was my experience in the early stages of the 1st half of life. I so very much identify with the opening lines of one of my favourite poems by one of my favourite poets.

That Sweet Moon Language

Admit something:
Everyone you see, you say to them, “Love me.”
Of course you do not do this out loud, otherwise
Someone would call the cops.

Still, though, think about this, this great pull in us to connect.
Why not become the one who lives with a
Full moon in each eye that is always saying,
With that sweet moon language, what every other eye in
This world is dying to hear?

Hafiz of Shiraz

The first four lines are all about 1st and 2nd chakra imbalance. The 5th line is the beginning of the balance signified by the longing to connect. (Heart Chakra – 4th Chakra). Line six is a healthy 3rd chakra. Lines 7 is about vision (6th chakra). The last two lines are about communion (5th chakra)

So in this poem, you have the journey the 7 chakra meaning and its different chakra levels.

Without a healthy, balanced and aligned sacral chakra we will engage in relationships of co-dependency rather than inter-dependency, vulnerability and intimacy. Our boundaries will be either too weak or too rigid.

The Solar Plexus Chakra

solar plexus balancing

Color in Space

The meaning of this chakra is related to personal empowerment. (I Will) This is where you get to experience the power of your personal will. This is the movement from the Will to Power to the Will to Love.

This is the energy center where you can live a driven life because of imbalances in your lower chakras. Your sense of self-worth (1st chakra) and dysfunctional relationships (2nd chakra) lead you to seek meaning in what you “do” and “achieve” rather than from living from “Being.” (Higher Chakra Levels)

Our Western Culture is very much a driven culture (3rd chakra imbalance). A major reason for this is because of what I call Toxic Capitalism, which leaves us all abandoned and orphaned on the alter of material progress for the few.

As individuals, and as a culture, it disconnects us from Source. Without a felt connection to Source Energy, there is no connection between your personal purpose (secondary) and Primary Purpose. This is where you and the Purpose of Life feel in alignment.

Without this connection to your Essential Self, you will be driven from the false self.

Many of us are walking the world as Hungry Ghosts. Whatever we get does not truly satisfy. This is because we are all addicted to the primary cause of suffering. This is our sense of personal felt separation from the One Life driven from attachment to our overthinking, never restful, personal mind.

Without a healthy balanced and aligned Root Chakra that gives you a sense of physical, emotional, and psychological safety -without a healthy balanced and aligned Sacral Chakra we will look outside ourselves for fulfillment through others or through addictive “doing.” Our sense of self-worth will be grounded on a false self.

We will seek value in what we do and gain rather than in who we are and what we are here to gift to the world from an inner sense of Resourcefulness, creativity, and Love.

1st Level 7 Chakra Meaning Challenges

1st chakra level and meaning

Image by Angela Yuriko Smith from Pixabay

If healing, balance, and alignment are all that you do through personal development then you will be well ahead of most everyone else regarding physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.

The focus here at Yoga Journey of Life is on the healing, balance, and alignment of these lower three chakras (1st Level Chakra Healing). When this happens, and it is a continuing process, rather than an end result, you have: –

  • Safe Personal Boundaries.
  • You Are open to Intimacy.
  • Experience Real Personal Empowerment.

This is the task of the 1st Half of Life. This is the stage of creating ego boundaries. During the Mid-Life period, if you are blessed (although it doesn’t feel like that at the time) you will experience a crisis of meaning.

You are drawn to explore the realm of the transpersonal. This is the 2nd Half of Life journey. There is a bridge to open and cross. This is the bridge of the heart (4th chakra). This is what I refer to as the willingness to Follow Love’s Message rather than the never-ending dictates of the overthinking mind driven from a feeling of never being enough.

With integrated ego boundaries that you surrender, the heart opens. You then have access to the higher chakra level. Then in the words of the German Christian mystic Meister Eckhart, you KNOW that: –

When the Higher flows into the lower the lower is transformed by the Higher—Meister Eckhart.

Most people never get to experience what it is to live as an integrated human, let alone then integrate that higher aspect of Being. They become human “doings” that then as a collective create a planet of Do-Do.

So to give you some idea of what this 1st Stage of the 7 chakras and their meaning involves, I list some challenges you face if you engage in a sincere journey of integration, revelation, and union (Yoga). These 9 challenges include: –

1st Stage Chakra Meaning – 7 Key Challenges

This is not a definitive list. Many, and even most of these, are inter-connected. Progress in one area opens up progress in another. Be aware of the very real experience of two steps forward and one step back.

Know that there will be times when you think you have integrated some aspect of yourself that needs healing only to find, some years later, it returns with a vengeance.

Chakra Levels and their Meaning

7 chakra meaning and levels

Viewing the Meaning of the 3 Chakra Levels

I hope that this overview of personal development related to the lower three chakras (chakra level 1) gives you a sense of the power and meaning of the 7 chakra map. Personally speaking, I think this is more valuable than telling you that the chakra system is a subtle energy system that you cannot touch, see and mostly, have no feel for.

I hope you can see that these lower chakras are foundational in inviting the KNOWING of your Life Purpose that then invites you to KNOW a Higher Love from which you can live with Purpose, Passion, true Prosperity and as a living Presence of Love in form.

Does that not give you some hope for your destiny that you could Companion YOUR Greatness seeded inside you? You are invited and encouraged to tend this unique seed of potential. It relates the proper work of this integration to the lower three chakras. My beloved Rumi says it this way:-

Your task is not the seek for Love but to remove all blocks to its realisation—Rumi.

These blocks are really YOUR energy blocks.

There is the body armor to be released (1st Chakra). There is the release of feared emotions (2nd chakra) held underground by the personal will (3rd chakra). Your task is to trust and let go so you allow the Higher to flow into the lower. In this way, it lights your personality up from the inside and you can then declare as the poet Anna Akhmatova says:-

The Secret of Secrets is inside me again—Anna Anaktova

Part II

Chakra Level 2

Period of Transition – Heart Chakra

chakra levels

Photo by Ashley Rich on Unsplash

So we now begin the Journey of Transition from the limitation of the personal self – the persona – to feeling our connection to the magnificent of the Light of Our Own Being (Hafiz). You begin the transition from the merely human to the extra-ordinary invitation of Human Being.

Chakra Level 2 -Period of Transition Menu

This transition is the healing, balance and alignment of the Heart Chakra – 4th Chakra. Let me first share a personal opinion. In the opinion of this writer, the heart chakra is not primarily concerned about romantic love.

Heart Chakra and Unconditional Love

chakra level 2 transitional

Heart Chakra Stretched Canvas Print by Color in Space

Romantic love is, to a large extent, dualistic. It is a sacral chakra (2nd chakra energy) heavily related to sexual desire and union. It is both a kind of Heaven/Hell experience because it is rooted in separateness (beyond the 1st pangs of union).

Romantic love is the invitation to healing the wounds of our inner orphan rooted in the losses of childhood. This is when we bring out into the open those unloved aspects of yourself to the other, hoping we can integrate them.

In the words of the Canadore, storyteller and Jungian Analyst, Clarissa Pinkola Estes writer of The Women Who Run with Wolves,

Romantic love leading to marriage is the license for all hell to break loose.

And it does.

This is the journey into intimacy beyond that drive for sexual union. This was the reason for the failure of the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s. It gave us the freedom to bonk each other but no one spoke of the terror of being seen for who we really are when we enter through the door of intimacy.

We might find that we have our fear that we are unloved confirmed.

We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known, and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection. – Brene Brown – The Power of Vulnerability.

This challenge of intimacy and vulnerability is a genuine challenge. We don’t do it very well. Witness the increasing level of divorce in most Western countries and beyond. Two years into most relationships it is in the words of a dear friend, “Shit or get off the pot.”

Metaphorically speaking, this means you have to begin the challenging process of intimacy through a vulnerability which is the foundation of genuine commitment. Otherwise, you will leave and find someone else you can screw around with and avoid the deeper and challenging work of claiming your unloved aspects. Reclaiming those orphaned aspects of yourself is called Shadow work.

Without engaging in the integrative process of Shadow work you can blame the other person for not being the right one who in the words of the line from the movie Jerry McQuire (1996) spoken to Renée Zellweger by Tom Cruise who says, “You complete me.” On a personal note, I loved this movie.

Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way.

No one can complete you other than you merge into the KNOWING of your True Self. It is out of that experience that you can then live with the archetype of the lover rather than the archetype of the Orphan. (More about archetypes as it relates them to Yoga to come as from June 2019).

There is also the lesser known chakra called the Higher Heart chakra which I have written about extensively at Higher Heart Chakra Healing is the Great Quest-I-On

The Language of Love

chakra levels and their meaning

Photo by Sharon McCutcheon on Unsplash

There is a problem in our culture. We have this word “love” and we expect it to express the vastness of this experience of limitation and boundlessness in one four-letter word. That’s asking the impossible.

The Inuit have over twenty words for distinct types of snow. Some types of snow are safe. Others are a risk to life and limb. So it is the case with the word “love” only it has the impossible task of trying to be all things to all people in this vast territory of human experience and longing.

When you have done some genuine work in integrating your personal sense of self – ego- you are likely to have reached the stage of life called Mid-Life. You are in your mid-thirties to late forties. You have had some life experience.

You might have married and raised a family or not. You might work in a career or not. You might be by all standards of our materialistic focused culture be considered successful. You may even be content.

You might, as Henry David Thoreau suggested, “Our living a life of quiet desperation.” You might, as was my case, have become a Hungry Ghost on the slide into alcoholism and mental disintegration that would last for around 10 years.

The Mask of Personality

the 7 chakras and their meaning

Photo by Adnan Khan on Unsplash

Integrating the personality is where most people stop. This is because the personality is who they completely identify with. The focus is, if there is a focus, on self-improvement rather than on Self Realization.

The drive for Self-improvement often comes from a sense of being unworthy or not of intrinsic value. This is a key aspect of the Root Chakra imbalance. It drives us to achieve and then to achieve more. This then might raise the existential question, “Is this all there is?”

The answer is, “Yes, this is all there is if your focus is on your being only a persona—a mask.” However, if you sincerely want to go on the quest to discover your full potential, then you will have to have the courage to move through the challenging Period of Transition. (Chakra level 2)

We often refer to this as The Mid-Life Crisis.

We show this challenge as a parody of the guy who buys the sports car and goes off with a younger woman. He thinks he is longing to return to his youth but in reality, he is longing to experience what we in Ireland call the experience of, “The Forever Young.” This is not an experience related to time but the KNOWING of the Timeless.

Is the “Forever Young” experience real? The answer is “Yes, it is.”

The modern mystic Eckhart Tolle wrote about this in his best-selling book The Power of NOW. An earlier mystic named Yeshua invited this experience when he suggested,

Seek Yeh first the Kingdom of Heaven and all shall be added unto you. – Matthew 6-33

Heaven is not a place that you go to but a realization that Creation creates you to embody here on earth.

Process of Transformation

The Process of Heart Chakra Alignment

Photo by Suzanne D. Williams on Unsplash

The Period of Transition (2nd chakra level) opens with the experience of longing. Our Western culture is not very good at offering guidance through this period of transition.

It is the job of religion and spiritual direction to guide you through this period. Only this isn’t done very well because the guides are believers who have had no direct experience of the Forever Young Experience that is beyond the period of transition.

You can only authentically guide someone through this period of transition if you have been graced to KNOW and BE that which is beyond such a period. This guidance is always an experience of Grace. It transforms you.

As the Christian mystic, Meister Eckhart says:-

The Higher flows into the lower and the lower is transformed by the Higher – Meister Eckhart

The Higher (chakra level 3 energy) flows through the open heart into the lower (chakra level 1 centers) and it transforms these.

This is how the process of self-actualization works. It is not a process of belief. You can believe in the possibility, but that will get you nowhere other than to stay within the identity of the persona—the mask.

This is a challenging invitation because it really requires that you honor the truth of who Creation creates you to be. If you have not integrated the longing of the Orphan in you, then you will feel threatened by the call of longing to return to Innocence which is the KNOWING of your True Self.

In the words of the poet Derek Walcott you have to have the courage to

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life.” (From Love After Love).

Heart Chakra Awakening Challenges

heart chakra awakening

Image by John Hain from Pixabay

So the challenges of Heart Awakening are in fact not for those who are faint of heart.

They are not really for those focused on transcending the ego but who do so through Spiritual Bypassing. Otherwise, you may invite energies that become difficult to handle because they threaten the limited idea of the personal self.

Then like Icarus, you will, metaphorically, fly too close to the Sun (higher chakras) and as a result, fall to Earth. (lower chakras)

Some very real challenges of this Period of Transition include: –

  • Learning that Sweet Moon Language.
  • Surrender of the Personal Will.
  • Entry into Not Knowing.

These are related. Progress in one area complements or pushes for progress in another.

Learning that Sweet Moon Language

The language of the heart is a unique kind of language. It is not the head orientated language of literalism, philosophy, theology, or logic. It is not the language that the mystic Osho calls, “logic-chopping.”

This tends to be the language of the personality and arises from the experience of duality. For many people, it is a language of none belonging. It is the language of the Orphan. (1st chakra archetype).

The language of the heart, which is that Sweet Moon Language (Hafiz) is a language of paradox, metaphor, and myth. This is the language central to this website Yoga Journey for Life. We share this Sweet Moon Language through: –

This focus takes you on the longest and shortest journey (paradox). This is the journey from the head (overthinking mind) to the heart (bridge to the transcendent).

Surrender of the Personal Will

awakening the heart chakra

Image by John Hain from Pixabay

Awakening the heart chakra requires the surrender of the personal will.

I have heard so many relatively ungrounded spiritual seekers enthusiastically declare, “One has to get rid of the ego.” This is nonsense. If you want to see someone without clear ego boundaries, go visit a hospital for the mentally insane.

You don’t get rid of the ergo. As the Swiss psychologist, Carl Gustav Jung declared: –

The 1st Half of Life is to develop an ego. The 2nd Half of Life is to surrender the ego. Carl Gustav Jung.

Surrender is not the same as, “get rid of.” One (get rid of) arises from aversion. The other (surrender) arises from longing. However, you cannot surrender what you do not have. Thus you have fluffy spiritual seekers living an etheric, dis-embodied life self-obsessed with transcending the world through getting rid of the ego.

This focus on surrender is not something you do.

It is not directed from a personal will to power but from the personal will to Love. It is a journey into learning the art of allowing, which is also an aspect of The Art of Loving. (Eric Fromm) Your focus is on expressing Love in Action. This is contrary to everything they have taught you to find meaning and purpose for your life.

Entry into the Unknown – The Call to Adventure

the meaning of the 7 chakras

Image by Gerd Altmann from Pixabay

I call this entry into the unknown the Second Awakening of Faith. Most people of faith are, in my personal experience, believers. They believe in some form of religious scrip or follow a script of non-belief.

These are the two sides of the same coin. Neither are KNOWERS.

A KNOWER is someone who has had a direct personal experience of the transcendent (chakra level 3- the non-personal). This is really “beyond belief.” However, this journey that is the 2nd Stage of Faith is threefold: –

  • Knowledge
  • Non-Knowing.
  • KNOWING

Most of what passes for religious instruction is by way of intellectual knowledge.

It is intellectually assented to and often taken literally. This is the case with any form of fundamentalism. It roots this in the need for certainty and in the need for boundaries There is a certain safety felt, in that, surely all those believers can’t be wrong.

This is especially the case of believers within your group. This leads to rigidity and dogmatism.

Faith to a Christian or to a Mohammedan or to a Hindu is nothing but another word for belief, and a belief is never anything but a repressed doubt. Every belief has behind it a doubt. To repress the doubt you believe more and more … but the doubt goes deeper and deeper into your unconscious. Faith in the world of Gautam Buddha’s experience is not belief. It has nothing to do with doctrines and philosophies, theologies, ideologies. It has something to do with trust, something to do with love, something to do with being at ease with the world, however it is. – Osho.

Unknowing – 2nd Stage of Faith

chakra levels of being

The real meaning of faith is that you do not know. This means you have to leave behind certainty. You cannot do this if you do not have clear ego boundaries and are over-dependent on others for your religious and spiritual direction. (1st and 2nd chakra dynamics)

You will remain tied to the group or cultural identity. You will not risk being seen “Not to Know” as a member of your faith.

This state of unknowing is the stage where you enter your inner sanctuary of the heart. You develop a genuine relationship with the paradoxical power of silence.

If you honestly admit that you do not know, then the voice in your head fights you. You will become a house divided against itself. This is one of the genuine challenges of being willing not to know.

Within each of us there is a silence, a silence as vast as the universe. And when we experience that silence, we remember who we are.
― Gunilla Norris

Chakra Level 3 – Trusting the Unknown

You expand into the NO-THING-NESS that is forever full. In the mythological story of The Four Treasures of Ireland. This emptiness that is forever full is represented by the 4th treasure which is The Cauldron of Plenty.

Out of this silence, you practice the instruction from the Psalms: –

Be Still and KNOW that I AM God—Psalm 46:10

This KNOWING the Divine is not the 1st Stage of Faith whereby your focus is on knowledge ‘ABOUT’ God. This is what the believer will settle for or and be encouraged to settle for. In this way, you follow what they call Exoteric Path. This is the path of the many.

Then, if you are blessed, (although it does not feel like a blessing in the beginning) you will take the Road Less Travelled By. This is the Esoteric Path – the path of the few. This is the path beyond belief. The words ‘beyond belief’ are to be taken literally.

This is the path of the mystics of all religious traditions and none that Exoteric followers tend either kill or marginalise.

The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference

To become a KNOWER is an experience of Grace. It cannot be given to those who are absolutely certain they know. To move from the 1st Stage of Faith (believer) to the 2nd Stage of Faith (KNOWER) is the real meaning of the experience of conversion.

Conversion in the genuine sense is the conversion from knowledge ‘about God’ to the direct KNOWING through the Grace of Revelation.

Some genuine challenges of this Period of Transition include: –

  • Learning that Sweet Moon Language.
  • Surrender of the Personal Will.
  • Entry into Not Knowing.

These are related. Progress in one area complements or pushes for progress in another.

Part III

Chakra Level III

PERIOD OF TRANSFORMATION

chakra level III awakening

You have undertaken the task of integrating the personality that will in fact be ongoing. (Chakra level 2)You have the courage to be willing “Not to Know” but to be known through. You have done the work of removing the blocks to the Love that KNOWS you by heart and has loved you all your life (Love After Love). (Chakra Level 2)

Now you are ready to allow the higher to flow into the lower and transform the lower (Meister Eckhart)

Chakra Level 3 – Period of Transformation Menu

The Higher flows into the lower and the lower (the personality) is transformed by the Higher (Presence).

So now we come to the Higher three chakras. These are: –

  • The Throat Chakra.
  • The Brow Chakra
  • The Crown Chakra

This is where too many spiritual seekers try to start the journey.

Their focus is often on opening the Brow Chakra—the Third Eye Centre. However, because they have not done the work of integrating the lower chakras like Icarus, they will get too close to the Sun (enlightenment) and fall to Earth. In the words of the Waterboys song, they got To Close to Heaven.

For the Highest Good

Let me be clear about one thing. This is that these Higher Energies are not for your personal aggrandizement. They are given to you, flow into you, for the highest good of all. However, you will be someone very unusual if you are not tempted to do so.

I know that is what I did.

It is really so tempting to claim this Love power for yourself. It is so powerful to be IN Love. When is say “to be IN Love” I am not talking about being in love in a romantic sense? I mean, being IN Love as an experience of who you are. You experience yourself and non-separate from Love as the Creative Force of the Universe. The Master Yeshua described it this way, “I and the Father are One.”—John 10:30.

So what do these Higher Energetic Chakras feel like: –

The Throat Chakra

higher chakra levels

Throat Chakra Stretched Canvas Print by Color in Space

The 1st higher level chakra is the throat chakra. This is the chakra of communion. Without integrating, the lower chakra’s communion is mere communication. You can see the power of a deeply unbalanced root chakra (chakra level 1) in the power of the speeches of Adolf Hitler.

This individual bypassed the heart chakra, had a deeply disturbed sacral chakra and used the full power of the 3rd chakra to compensate. He could tune into the unbalanced root chakra of the German people following their defeat in the first World War (1914-1918) and we know the result.

We see the same thing happening in the U.S.A. with the unbalanced President Donald Trump in 2020.

We can only communicate the Higher Energy of the Throat Chakra when the personal will and the heart are willingly surrendered to the Will to Love. This is as distinct from serving the personal will to Power. You feel your life purpose (Secondary) to be in alignment with Love’s Purpose (Primary).

You are integrating all three chakra levels. There is a genuine delight (of the Light) in this. Your energy heightens. You are becoming integrated in word and deed. You become an expression of Love in Action. You are doing less and more open to being done through. Your words and actions are in communion with Presence. You are becoming an experience of Flow.

You commune with the Divine. Metaphorically speaking, you become one who shares the Gospel, but you don’t do so in words. You share the Gospel of Union by radiating Union (Yoga).

The Brow Chakra

the higher chakra levels

Third Eye Chakra Stretched Canvas Print by Color in Space

At this 2nd higher chakra level you are becoming one of those, who we call in Ireland, “The Shining One’s” or “The Beautiful People.” Beauty here is not equated with glamor. Beauty is a Way of Seeing. It is Seeing with a Full Moon in Each Eye that allows you to speak (5th Chakra) that Sweet Moon Language of the heart (4th Chakra).

This is not seeing in the normal way in which you understand this word. This is seeing as a way of Being.

The normal way in which you view the world is through the experience of duality. You see everything in opposites. This view of things and objects as separate creates the sense of the separate self-called ‘the ego.’ This is a necessary stage of the journey into Higher Love. Metaphorically speaking, this is the eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

When your energy flows from the Higher you see in a transformational way. This is the Way of Unity. It is, to quote from a title of a book written by Franciscan Father Richard Rohr, “The Way that Mystics See.” (The Naked NOW).

This is non-dual thinking and Seeing.

None of this description can really give you a genuine sense of the glory of living this world view. It is only from this chakra level of healing, balance, and alignment that the 2nd commandment, “Love thy Neighbour as thy Self” Matthew 22-39- makes any kind of sense.

This is because at this level of seeing you can recognize your neighbour as both separate and non-separate from yourself. In the movie Avatar (2009) you have the Beautiful People the Na’vi. Their greeting to each other is, “I see you.”

This is the Seeing of the Avatar, the Prophet, the Sage, the Mystic, and the Seer. It is more than intuition. It is from this energy that you experience the wisdom of Solomon. It is more that you, as the personality, have taken a back seat.

The normal experience of you as the experiencer has gone. There is only really the Seeing. This also allows you to See (KNOW) what needs to be done in the present moment. This is not so much “Thinking about,” as it is living as an expression of Universal Intelligence. You are being thought through.

Here we come to the limits of the ability of language to share what is being invited here. All we can do is really be a finger pointing at the moon. Only those who have been graced the experience of Seeing as the mystics see have any real claim to be a guide to awakening and for finding true meaning and purpose in life.

Everything else, to a degree, is the blind leading the blind. Better to be honest and say that you do not KNOW what it is to be graced to KNOW the longing that every other eye in the world is longing to hear (Hafiz)

The Crown Chakra

third higher chakra level

Crown Chakra Stretched Canvas Print by Color in Space

At this highest 3rd chakra level we have the culmination of what it is to be a self-actualized human being on this planet of duality. In various traditions, we call this Enlightenment. In the Christian tradition, we call it Salvation.

Do not confuse the experience of Salvation with the experience of, “Being Saved.” This, more often than not, arises from a longing to belong to the group (1st chakra level) rather than because of a direct revelation of At-One-Ment (7th chakra).

I was raised in Northern Ireland and I have met enough people who have ardently declared, “I am saved.” I only ever met one man who I felt had been graced this revelatory experience. He picked me up while hitchhiking home from Belfast to Armagh.

We had such a heartfelt conversation (communion) that he took me all the way home even though he wasn’t going to Armagh.

When I look back on that conversation, I recognize how much he longed to share what he really knew but that others could not comprehend. Like myself, the number of those who have ears to hear is all too few. This longing to speak that Sweet Moon Language can leave you feeling lonely.

I hope this does not sound arrogant although it can sound that way. I share this invitation from a direct experience of Grace. I am not enlightened, but I have lived there for a time. This is also to say that I have lived outside of Time. This is the KNOWING of Eternal Life.

To use an Irish mythological term, it is that I have lived in the Land of Tír na nÓg. This is the Land of the Forever Young. There is not much I can say about this experience of Union/Yoga because words cannot ever say what it is truly like.

Mystics and mystic poets are the only people who can point you toward the magical and transformational blessing of finally coming home to the place that you can never leave and in reality, have never left.

The Road Home (by Rumi, Trans. by Coleman Barks)

An ant hurries along a threshing floor with its wheat grain,
moving between huge stacks
of wheat, not knowing the abundance all around.  It thinks its
one grain is all there is to
love.  So we choose a tiny seed to be devoted to.  This body,
one path or one teacher.  Look
wider and farther.  The essence of every human being can see,
and what that essence-eye takes
in, the being becomes.  Saturn.  Solomon!  The ocean pours
through a jar, and you might say it
swims inside the fish!  This mystery gives peace to your
longing and makes the road home home.

Your coming home is, metaphorically speaking, the realization of Heaven on Earth. It is the return to the Garden of Eden.

Only this time it is different. You have processed the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil that is ego development. Now you eat of the fruit of the other tree which is the Tree of Life.

Do not take this garden metaphor literally. You are created to KNOW that you are the Garden.

7 Chakra Meaning Summary

Full 7 Chakra Meaning Map

So there you have an outline of a map for finding meaning and purpose for your one wild and precious life. This map will allow you to meet again the one who KNOWS you by heart and has LOVED you all your life (Love After Love).

It only takes a glimpse. This will be enough.

Between the conscious and the unconscious, the mind has put up a swing
by Kabir – English version by Robert Bly

Between the conscious and the unconscious, the mind has put up a swing:
all earth creatures, even the supernovas, sway between these two trees,
and it never winds down.

Angels, animals, humans, insects by the million, also the wheeling sun and moon;
ages go by, and it goes on.

Everything is swinging: heaven, earth, water, fire,
and the secret one slowly growing a body.
Kabir saw that for fifteen seconds, and it made him a servant for life.

This glimpse will, as it has done for me, perfume your life. I am writing from this place of KNOWING. This is not more information.

I am not asking you to believe what I write here. You can start with the belief in the possibility but do not become what the mystic Eckhart Tolle calls, “A clinger to signposts.” This means you become a believer and never take the journey.

I share this information through an invitation to transformation. However, you have to journey beyond belief into the unknown (2nd Stage of Faith) so that you can be Graced the KNOWING of your True Self. (7th Chakra realization)

Then Purpose, Passion, and true Prosperity will be yours to give away from the Emptiness that is Forever Full. This will be your delight because you will Love to live as a clear emanation of the Light. You will become an expression of Radiance. This is your birthright.

Now you have at least, even if only in a purely intellectual sense, a map of the journey into claiming this birthright. Then, once again as the poet William Wordsworth declared in Intimations of Immortality, you will again come dancing into this world trailing clouds of glory.

You will live as one of the Shining Ones, one of the Beautiful People. You will KNOW who you are, and why you are. You will laugh at the idea that began the quest, “Is this all there is?”

May you, in the words of W. B.Yeats, KNOW the reality of Companioning YOUR Greatness so you declare, “I am blessed and can bless.” (Vacillation IV)

Let it be so for you. Let it be so for all.
